The heart of the railway route from Berlin to Palermo is the crossing of the Alps. The existing infrastructure of railway tracks will be amended by double-tracks in several sections between Munich and Verona. The first development step will be a 40 kilometres section between the cities of Kundl and Baumkirchen in the region Tiroler Unterinntal.
Today, more than 300 trains travel on this route daily. More than 80% of this new track run in tunnels, sags and subsurface routes. There are three joints with the existing route enabling switching of traffic. Goods and people will travel on this new route with a speed of up to 250 km/h.
Technical railway equipment
Footpaths along the tracks, mass-spring systems, solid tracks, main cabling projects, ventilation systems, conveyor cage systems, pump systems, fire water systems, lock doors and gates, stop logs, noise-barrier cladding in sags and galleries.
