Customer: WTE/RWE Holding and its subsidiary, SRV d.o.o. Zagreb.
Construction period: 01.2005 – 05.2006
Location: across the river Sava in Zagreb
Country: Croatia
The bridge structure is being built as part of the city of Zagreb’s central waste water treatment plant (CWWTP). It will accommodate waste water lines running from the district of Novi Zagreb to the waste water treatment plant.
The 840 m bridge structure has clear spans of 48 + 6×60 + 72 + 120 + 72 + 2×60 + 48 and crosses the Save as well as the inundation area. The bridge’s cross-section is designed as 5 prestressed hollow box sections with a lane width of 33.50 m. It will accommodate 2 lanes and sidewalks as well as 2 streetcar tracks. The waste water lines conducting the waste water from Novi Zagreb (1.5 m³/s) to the city of Zagreb’s central waste water treatment plant are located inside the structure. The height of the box is 3.55 m. The structure is fully prestressed, longitudinally and transversally (100% internal prestressing). The main span across the Save with a width of 120 m is stayed with inclined cables by cantilever construction. The 4 pylons with a height of 16.50 m each are made of MB50 concrete, each containing 8 saddles for the inclined cables, cable type 47 x 15.7 mm, 1570/1770 galvanized, waxed and HDPE coated. The cantilever system, type Wito 230/3.05, has a total carrying capacity of 3,300 Kn (fresh concrete, formwork with horizontal formwork supports and other payloads), each section having a length of 3.05 m. Every other free-cantilevered section is anchored to the approach viaduct over the pylons by means of inclined cables.
