The existing Kennedy bridge is located in the city-centre of Bonn. The Kennedy bridge crosses the Rhein as part of the Bundesstrasse 56.
The existing bridge will be broadened from 18,00 m to 26,80 m. The Rhein bridge is a 394,29 m long steel-construction, consisting of three parts: part direction to Bonn: 99,21 m, part direction to Beuel: 99,21 m, medium part: 195,85 m.
Once the cantilever was removed the steel bridge will be widened by adding new steel arches. The foreshore bridges will be made of reinforced concrete and deep foundation, just as the supporting structure. The streets around Bonner- and Beulerseite will also be extensively developed.
