The Lainzer tunnel connects the southern and western countries along the river Danube. In the future it also should considerably relief the main traffic routes in Vienna and the inner city traffic.
The contract section LT 31 – Maxing consists of the construction of a more than 3.5 km long dual-railway-track tunnel and reaches from the staring point (west of the first shaft) to the Lainzer street east of the junction point. For the most part the tunnelling will go through loose rock.
