Ningbo is at the east coast in the province of Zhejiang, ca. 350 km south of Shanghai. For years the region Shanghai – Ningbo is being developed into China’s economic centre. Since 1980 the GNP increased by 15 times. The traffic in this province increases annually by about 12%. From 2002 to 2010 Ningbo’s harbour will be developed into one of the most important transit container harbours. In essence this 42.25 km long motorway project serves to connect the transit harbour Ningbo and the industrial zones of the province Zhejiang. The route leads from Ningbo to Xikou in mildly rolling country (designed speed 100 km/h), then runs through the Shanjie mountains (designed speed 80 km/h) and ends at the border between Feng Hua and Xinchang.
On 28.12.2005 at 9:45 AM the opening ceremony took place in Jinhua at the end of the 175 km long Yongjin motorway. The traffic rolls since the tollgate opened on 29.12.2005 00:00 o’clock.
