Since 1998, the ÖVBB has been inviting to this congress every two years. By now, the event has established itself as an important communication platform for representatives of builders, construction industry, engineering offices and sub-construction companies. The Concrete Day 2010 reaffirmed the importance of this construction event: on April 22 and 23, a total of 2,000 participants from 16 countries (Austria, Hungary, Germany, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland, Switzerland, South Korea, Finland, Slovenia, Croatia, Lithuania, Greece, Hong Kong, USA, Italy) came to the Austria Center Wien to establish business contacts and to obtain information about the latest technological innovations and project highlights in building and infrastructure construction in Austria and abroad.
ALPINE also was a successful participant of the Concrete Day 2010. As part of the sophisticated lecture programme, future-oriented construction projects – such as the construction of the ultra-modern cricket stadium in Dubai, the Viennese District “Viertel Zwei”, the Danube bridge Traismauer and the central part of the Gotthard base tunnel – were presented, and current developments in energy generation were discussed.
Of course, ALPINE had its own booth on site, which had many interested visitors. There, the managing directors DI Dr. Peter Preindl (CEO), Ing. Roman Esterbauer and Bmst. Ing. Karl Gruber made an important investment in the future: they met 40 HTL and TU students from Salzburg, Upper Austria and Vienna, answered their questions and talked to them about the reality of the construction business.
The next Concrete Day will take place in 2012 and, considering the durability of the building material that gave the event its name, it is likely that we can expect more repetitions of Concrete Day in the future.
