FCC
The Spanish Parent Group FCC
FCC is the parent group of ALPINE. According to turnover and profitability it is Spain's largest construction and service industry group.

FOMENTO DE CONSTRUCCIONES Y CONTRATAS, S.A. (FCC) was founded in March 1992 by fusing two prestigious companies. CONSTRUCCIONES Y CONTRATAS, S.A. (CYCSA), founded in 1944 in Madrid and FOMENTO DE OBRAS Y CONSTRUCCIONES, S.A. (FOCSA), founded in Barcelona and listed since December 1900. The shares of FCC are currently listed in the Ibex-35 Index (which is comprised of the 35 most important Spanish listed companies).

Since long its growth strategy focussed on diversification. Already in 1911 its activities enter public services with a contract to clean and maintain Barcelona’s drainage system although it originally has been founded as a construction company.

In 2010, 55% of turnover came from the construction sector, 37% from services (environmental services, logistics and transportation, municipal facilities, the operation of multi-storey car parks and garages, vehicle inspection and passenger transport), 7% from cement and approximately 1% from energy.

FCC is by far the leading company in the Spanish wastewater and waste removal market and is continuously expanding in other markets. Total turnover reached 12.1 billion euros in 2010, with about 46% attributable to FCC’s internal operations.

FCC’s construction division
The company ‘FCC Construcción, S.A.‘ has more than 100 years of experience in the construction sector. Activities cover all areas of construction in the Spanish and international markets.

Financial facts and figures
‘FCC Construcción‘ generated sales of 6.7 billion euros in 2010. This represents a decline of 7% compared with the previous financial year. 55% of total turnover originated from international business (Austria 41%, Germany, 19%, Eastern Europe 9%, rest of Europe 9%, Central America and USA 4%, other countries 10%). Figures from the international market are particularly noteworthy, seeing as the proportion of total turnover increased by another 2% compared with 2009 to 55%.

Reinforcement of the construction sector with ALPINE
In 2006, FCC acquired 80% of ALPINE, thereby further expanding its international presence in the construction sector with locations in central, southern, and southeastern Europe.
