Founded in 1965 as a small construction machine trading company in Wals near Salzburg, ALPINE is today one of the leading construction groups in Europe. In recent years, ALPINE has continuously increased its construction output through acquisitions, solid growth in home markets and expansion into foreign markets. This massive yet quality-oriented growth allowed us to strengthen and expand our position in Austria and Germany. In 2010, 15,057 employees of ALPINE generated a construction output of 3,201 million Euro. Due to the general bad economic situation in 2010 too, a ca. 5% decrease in construction output was recorded. However, with an order level of 3.3 billion Euro at the end of the year we are well set up for 2011.
Our competencies
Our know-how covers the entire construction output spectrum in every construction sector, from classic building constructions to innovative environmental projects. Consequently, we carry out projects of any type and size. ALPINE’s portfolio is complemented by a number of services in project administration, planning and financing. The subsidiary ALPINE-ENERGIE provides considerable future potential. It works in the future-oriented segments of sustainable energy supply (generation, transportation and application) and communication and network technology. To ensure the highest quality also in the future, ALPINE operates its own research and development department within the group. The supply of resources needed in construction is secured by operating our own resource locations and production facilities.
World wide construction activities
ALPINE is active in more than 30 countries world-wide and for the most part via its own branches or subsidiaries. The home markets are Austria, Germany and Switzerland. In 2010, approximately half of the construction output was generated in Austria. We can look back to a very strong development on the German market and are now one of the largest construction companies in that country. In recent years, we continuously expanded our market position in Eastern and Southeastern Europe as well as in Asia in addition to further strengthening our already strong position on our home markets. ALPINE has completed numerous infrastructure projects in the areas of road construction, underground construction, building construction, power station construction as well as environmental projects. Particular mention deserves the area of sports facility construction where numerous international contracts are being realised such as the construction of three soccer stadiums in Poland. ALPINE also operates in UAE, Oman, Singapore, India and China.
